"Learn all you can about the history of the past, for how else can one even make a guess at what is going to happen in the future?"

The above words come, not from a history teacher, but from Winston Churchill, one of the greatest statesmen of the 20th century. Churchill understood that a good grasp of the past is vital in understanding the present and probably provides the best indication of what the future may bring. While we cannot necessarily guarantee you a career as varied and impressive as that of Churchill we can certainly promise a program that offers you the opportunity to explore all that the history of the world has to offer.

A discipline of enormous breadth, history touches on all aspects of human life and society. It deals significantly with politics, diplomacy, war, economics, gender, race, religion, art, literature, film, and music. Studying history at Westminster will help develop your ability to think critically, weigh evidence, and put forward clear concise arguments both orally and in writing. These skills are crucial to success in a host of demanding and stimulating careers. For these reasons some of the best high school students choose history as their major and go on to get successful jobs after graduation.
