At Westminster, we offer a Math Major and Minor, as well as a Major in Computer Science. This program is dedicated to the following goals:
- We will support your understanding of other disciplines such as the sciences, economics, and business.
- We will impart to you a basic understanding of math, both its place in the world and how we came to know it as we do.
- We will teach you about the effective uses of technology in mathematics.
- We will help you develop your problem solving skills by combining creative thinking and rigorous reasoning abilities.
- We will relate mathematics to the real world, with a mind toward getting you the employment that you wish as you leave us to enter the workplace.
At Westminster we feel that the student comes first. Our small class sizes ensure this mindset. Your instructors will always be helpful and supportive, but above all -- available. The environment among Westminster’s student body is highly supportive as well. You will always be able to seek help from your peers. To ensure this, Westminster has set up a Mathematics Lab, in which you can seek tutoring for free almost every night of the week.
We realize that students do not always get everything right on the first try. Because of this, we will provide you with constant feedback on your work. You will not be lost in the crowd, because your instructor will know your name and how you are doing in the course. Furthermore, your assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects will all be returned to you promptly, with suggestions as to how you can improve your mathematical ability. |
