Delta Tau Delta
Delta Omicron Chapter of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity is committed to helping the Fulton, Callaway County, and Missouri Communities. Our fraternity is proud to help sponsor and participate in many Blood Drives for the American Red Cross. We are also proud of the work we have done with the Callaway County United Way, including a fundraising car wash in Columbia, Missouri, helping with the United Way’s annual wrestling event, participating in the United Way’s annual Radio-a-thon, and helping to organize and staff the first Stand Free concert. Stand Free 2005 is a rock-n-roll festival to help raise money for the United Way. Rock-n-roll bands from all over the Midwest jumped on board, and we welcomed a huge turnout at this event. Delta Tau Delta has also helped with We Care Ministries in Montgomery and Gasconade County. We Care Ministries is a food pantry and clothing facility for the disadvantaged that services over 300 families monthly. We have also been active in S.E.R.V.E. Much like We Care Ministries, S.E.R.V.E. provides basic necessities to families; however, S.E.R.V.E. operates within the Fulton community. Finally, Delta Omicron Chapter has participated in the Stars program for the past two semesters. This program goes hand in hand with our fraternity’s national adopt-a-school program. The Stars program gives us a chance to mentor grade school children, and to help the Fulton community establish an effective after school program for adolescents. As a tribute to our work Delta Omicron has won several awards in the last year, including but not limited to the E.C. Henderson Award for excellence in service to the United Way, Excellent Service Award from the American Red Cross, Westminster College Award for an outstanding philanthropy program, We Care Ministries Award for excellence in service to the Montgomery and Gasconade County area, and Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity Award for an outstanding adopt-a-school program. As a house, we at Delta Tau Delta realize that strengthening our community is a vital aspect of our college experience, and will continue to make strides toward excellence in this field.
Student Athlete Advisory Council
SAAC is proud to sponsor a canned food drive throughout the 2005-2006 school year. At all home athletic events, students, faculty, and parents who attend the games are encouraged to bring a canned food item. All of the donations will go to SERVE in Fulton. SAAC came up with this idea in order to fuse our athletic events and school with our community. So far we have collected 75 pounds of food in the first two weeks. Our goal is to collect 1000 pounds of food by the end of the year.
SAAC has also created brother/sister teams. Our hopes for this program are to try to boost attendance at our athletic events. A men's fall sport is paired up with a women's spring sport. Each brother/sister team is encouraged to attend as many of their counterpart’s games as they can.
Finally, SAAC is developing a Fraternity/Sorority Adopt-a-Team program as another attendance booster at athletic events. Each fraternity or sorority is paired up with a sports team and is asked also to try to attend as many of their adopted team's games as possible. |
