Campus Safety and Security
Some common sense security tips:
-
Always keep your suite/room/house locked and secure. Don’t give out door codes to anyone – even other students.
-
Don’t prop doors.
-
At night, try to avoid walking alone. If you need an escort, please call Security at 642-1122.
-
Be especially cautious of off-campus areas. There have been several crimes recently reported on Westminster Ave. several blocks north of campus.
-
Don’t post your room or phone number on facebook, myspace, or other internet sites.
-
Lock your parked car and keep valuables (laptops, iPods, etc.) out of sight. We’ll soon have “code blue” stations in the parking lot north of Robbie that you can use if you need Security.
-
If you see something or someone that worries you, call Security at 642-1122.
-
Remember that heavy use of alcohol can lead to sexual assault and other violent crimes. Know your limits and help your friends know theirs. These tips are not meant to scare you – we have a safe campus that has rarely had problems with crime. The above are simply “common sense” guidelines to keep you safe.
