Cisco Clean Access
Return to Computer Services' Home
Westminster College has installed the Cisco Clean Access product to help protect both student and campus computers from security vulnerabilities, and improve network security. When fully deployed, this product will require all wireless and residential network users to be validated. The software performs the following functions:
- Requires authentication to the Network
- Validates whether the system connecting to the network meets the minimum security standards.
- Quarantines the system until it meets the minimum security standards.
- Provides access to the remediation sites so that the users can download service packs, virus protection updates, etc.
- Once the system is validated as "clean"; allows access to the network.
This will prevent casual browsing of the campus network by non-Westminster users, and will help further reduce the risk of internet Trojans and worms. With recent virus outbreaks, computers which are not patched or do not run virus scan are at risk of infecting other machines and disrupting network services. This software will allow clean computers to hook to our network easily thus reducing the laborious procedures of turning network ports on and off.
You must allow the software to run completely. Follow the instructions exactly. If you have difficulty, contact your RTA.
