For a work experience to be considered an internship (either credit or non-credit) it must meet the following criteria: The intern must be professionally supervised on site. The internship must be a new learning experience for the intern. The intern must have a deliberate learning agenda going into the experience. The intern must actively reflect on what he/she is learning throughout the experience.
