Requirements for Internship Credit

  • Before the internship starts, the student should meet with the Internship Coordinator.
  • A student must have 60 credit hours completed and at least a 2.0 GPA to be eligible to receive credit hours.
  • An intern needs to work 50 hours onsite for each credit hour s/he wishes to receive.  Therefore for a 3 credit hour internship the student will need to work 150 hours onsite.  All the hours need to be completed within a semester.  Retroactive credit will not be given.  Credit is awarded on CR/F basis.
  • Students will develop a learning contract stating what they plan to learn from the experience, how they will learn, and how they will demonstrate that learning to their faculty sponsor.
  • Students will keep a learning journal that will be submitted to their faculty sponsor on a weekly basis.
  • Students will complete a final culminating project. This provides the means for the faculty sponsor to evaluate the overall accomplishment of the student’s learning goals.
