University of California Irvine Graduate School of Management Beginning in 1987 UCI's Grad School of Management provided laptops to all Executive MBA students, and by 1996 every Executive, Fully-employed MBA, and Health Care MBA students had cost of a required laptop built into fees and all full-time MBAs were required to purchase.  All laptops come pre-configured with "UCI Master".  Each UCI supports 2-3 laptop choices.  In Fall of 1999 UCI supported Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300 and ultra-light Portege 3480s, with 600+ MHz processors, 10/100 Ethernet, 12 GB hard drives and standard 3 year warranty.  Total enrollment (students) approximates 950 masters candidates. Over 13 years experience distributing laptops to all students in a program makes UCI's business school second only to Harvard as the original laptop computer pioneer.  UCI continues to build the cost of the laptop into fees for all except state supported full-time MBA students; whereby the School provides a $500 tuition rebate towards the purchase of one of the recommended laptops.  All students are required to own a laptop.
